This photograph distills the idea of a bridge man by relying on a favorite technique of mine: pareidolia (  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia ), that is, construing random data (here: jumbled girders) as something coherent or meaningful; here, a robot-like man who works with machine claws while carrying a pack. The man was "there" without my creating him intentionally, although I did clear away some junk stuck to his back. My higher purpose: to harness photographs, often dismayingly mimetic, to the imagination.
